• Acquired property in Brentwood for an East County Government Center to deliver County services locally for East Contra Costa County citizens.
  • Lead the ban on medical marijuana dispensaries in unincorporated areas of Contra Costa County.
  •  Implemented Laura's Law, a California state law that allows for court-ordered assisted outpatient treatment for those with serious mental illness.

Highlights 2015

  • Behavioral Health's development and implementation of Laura's Law and further integration of Mental Health, Substance Use Disorder and Homeless Programs.
  • The department responded to the closure of Doctors Medical center with the Emergency Medical Services division rerouting ambulances to reduce adverse patient outcomes, and making the Contra Costa Health Plan Advice Line available to all West County residents to help with emergency advice and routing.
  • The Hazardous Materials Division participated in the development of new amendments to the Industrial Safety Ordinance to better ensure that local refineries and chemical industries are operating safely.
